- Clean Text is on the Applications folder.
- There are not different versions of the app installed on your startup disk.
- Clean Text menu item ‘Clean Selection’ is checked in the the Services section of the Keyboard System Preferences.
- You done at least a login once you have fulfilled the three conditions above.
Create a Macro
Create a macro it’s easy and you can create as many macros you need for your daily work. To create a preset follow these do as follows:
- Click on the Macros tabin the side bar.
- Click on the Edit link (there are two kind of macros, one for the Find and Replace text and one for the actions, choose the one that fits better your needs).
- In the macro window click Add and give a name for your new macro.
- Then click on the actions you want to add to the macro.
- When you have done, click OK.
Now you have a new macro listed in the Macros tab, to use, just click on its link in the side bar. Please note: the Macros can’t be exported or imported.
Can’t figure out how to delete a certain number of characters from each line (end or beginning). There doesn’t seem to be a command for it.
Clean Text uses Regular Expression for searching. Check the dedicated option in the Find window. With Regular Expression you can do things like this and many others but you must know the syntax. Here you can find a manual with examples; a quick-reference; a cheat-sheet you can print and a dedicated site.
Clean clipboard content
If you click on the Iconize icon in the application toolbar and the application becomes a small window that stays on top of all the other windows and give you the possibility to eliminate all text formatting and to fix all the text with a single click. In this way you don’t need to paste text and then to copy it from the main window.
