General Information

What is Encrypt Mail?
Encrypt Mail is an easy-to-use client for sending encrypted emails and encrypted attachments for both personal and business use. Mac based recipients will receive a DMG password protected file. Windows and Linux based recipients will receive a ZIP password protected archive instead. All contacts are handled in a convenient list separated from Mac OS X's built in Address Book.

The 3 most Frequently Asked Questions are...

1. How to decompress a .zip password protected archive I received via email?
To decompress a password-protected archive you received, drag it over the icon of one of these applications:

2. How to open a .dmg password protected file I received via email?
To access the contents of a .dmg password protected file you received, just double-click its icon, enter the password and the content of the file will show up as a volume on your desktop. After working with it, eject the volume by clicking the Eject button in the sidebar of a Finder window or dragging its icon to the Trash. This kind of files can be natively accessed only on Mac OS X computers.

3. Why some recipients can't receive an encrypted message or file?
The application encrypts the messages and the files using the format specified in the preferences. The default choice is ZIP format. Some email providers don't accetp encrypted ZIP files. One of these providers is Gmail, here is an article about sending ZIP files via Gmail.
